Can I reiterate my sincere thanks for your extraordinary efforts and contributions in these challenging times in both our working and personal lives. I hope you will have all seen the VC’s video message reminding us all to prioritise our wellbeing and be flexible. To support this approach, please have a look at this practical guide to help you build flexibility into your working day, balance work and home life, and give you more time to look after your wellbeing and the wellbeing of those you care for, whilst ensuring we are able to deliver on our core priorities. I will be working with HoDs to determine core priorities for the faculty and you are encouraged to work with your line manager to reevaluate your own work priorities.
All line managers recognise that many members of staff are trying to undertake their roles to the best of their abilities at the same time as home schooling children and possibly supporting friends and relatives who are self-isolating and unwell. Please be assured that we completely understand that it may simply not be possible to fulfil all aspects of your role as you would normally and ask that you keep your line manager informed. Bearing this in mind you will have seen in the staff update email that we are encouraged to make mid-term SRDSs less formal and ensure that we make time for wellbeing conversations.
If you need additional support, please speak to your line manager. Please remember that support is also available via the Health and Wellbeing pages and Health Assured, the staff helpline and counselling service.
