Professor Richard Eastell, Department of Oncology & Metabolism, was recently announced as a winner of one of the European Society of Endocrinology’s prestigious annual Awards for 2020. The winners of these awards have not only contributed to endocrinology as a whole but have also made major advances in their specialities.
As a winner, Richard will present a plenary lecture at ESE’s annual Congress – the European Congress of Endocrinology (ECE) in Prague, Czech Republic on 23-26 May 2020.
Richard was awarded the Clinical Endocrinology Trust Award for clinical research that addresses aspects of endocrinology at the forefront of clinical practice, and is sponsored by the Clinical Endocrinology Trust. Richard received the Award for his major contribution to clinical research, practice and world health. He developed specialist services for osteoporosis at Sheffield, which treats over 8000 patients a year. It has led the world in the development of new therapies, including the introduction of a method for detecting vertebral fractures.
