Any plans for Saturday 25th June? MRC Festival of Medical Research

On Saturday 25th June researchers from across the University will be taking part in the MRC Festival of Medical Research to show why and how research at the University of Sheffield is improving people’s lives.

The event is taking place in the Winter Gardens between 11am and 4pm and is open to everyone so come along and discover something new.

Dr Allan Lawrie and Professor Jim Wild from the Department of Infection, Immunity and Cardiovascular Disease will be helping people to “Understand Lung Disease”. Their activity will compare 3D printed casts of heart and lungs from healthy individuals and patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension – a type of lung disease – and blow up balloons to find out more about how the heart works with certain conditions.  There will be a chance to test your own lung capacity too!

There will be numerous activities and events throughout the day and there is no need to book – just turn up.
