Sheffield Cancer Research Day – 22 January 2016

delegatesThe Sheffield Cancer Research Day took place at the Edge on Friday, 22 January 2016. The event was well attended with 170 delegates signing up from across several university departments and local hospitals, who came to hear talks on topics such as bone oncology, genome biology and clinical translation.

The event also had 3 invited speakers, Professor Andrew Tutt from the Institute of Cancer Research, Professor Fiona Watt, FRS, from King’s College London, (only 5% of FRS and overseas affiliates of the Royal Society are female) and Dr Jesper Svejstrup from the Francis Crick Institute.

Delegates were invited to submit postersposters on their current research for the event and to also take part in an elevator pitch session in which they had 3 minutes to “sell their study”.
