AURDM Seminar: 15 March From Gamete to Grandad; The Paternal Origins of Offspring Programming

Fertile Ground Seminar Series
Date: Wednesday 15 March 2017
Time: 1200-1300
Title: From gamete to granddad; the paternal origins of offspring programming
Speaker: Dr Adam Watkins, Aston University
Venue: Ian Cooke Lecture Theatre, Level 4, Jessop Wing

Dr Watkins’ research is focused on investigations into the impact of parental nutrition on offspring health.  He was the first to show that embryo culture and transfer procedures resulted in the development of hypertension and metabolic disorders in adult offspring.  He has also assessed the impact of maternal low protein diet (LPD) given exclusively during pre-implantation development (3.5 days) in mice.
